EV Decision Making Tool
For the final project of my Business Analytics Data Visualization class, I created a decision making tool for a resident of Washington state who is interested in purchasing an electric vehicle. The tool is an interactive guide intended to assist with the decision by covering topics like budget, battery range, popular models, and charging locations.
About the data:
The data that supports this tool is drawn from 3 sources. The first data set, Electric Vehicle Title and Registration Activity, was pulled from data.wa.gov, the general purpose open data portal for the State of Washington. This data set contains records of title and registration activity for Washington State electric vehicles. It was last updated on February 25, 2022 and is provided by the Washington State Department of Licensing. The second data set, Alternative Fuel Stations 2021, was pulled from Data.gov. This data set is a "snapshot" of alternative fueling station information. It was last updated on July 29, 2021 and was published by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. The third data set is originally sourced and of my creation. I compiled the location information for EV charging stations along the I-5 corridor from Seattle to San Francisco and based on a handful of EV ranges determined by the Range Histogram. An order and trip name was assigned to each location.
